How To Measure
How To Measure
Tools Needed:
- Measuring tape (preferably metal for accuracy)
- Pen or pencil
- Notepad or paper
- Step ladder (if necessary)
- Level (optional but recommended for ensuring straight measurements)
Instructions:
1. Determine the Mounting Style:
- Inside Mount: The blind fits within the window frame.
- Outside Mount: The blind covers the window and frame, mounting on the wall or window trim.
2. Inside Mount Measurements:
Step 1: Measure the Width
- Measure the inside width of the window at the top, middle, and bottom.
- Record the narrowest width measurement. This ensures the blind fits within the tightest part of the window frame.
Step 2: Measure the Height
- Measure the inside height of the window at the left, center, and right.
- Record the longest height measurement to ensure full coverage.
Step 3: Measure the Depth
- Measure the depth of the window frame to ensure the blind will fit inside. This is especially important for windows with handles or other obstructions.
3. Outside Mount Measurements:
Step 1: Measure the Width
- Measure the width you want the blind to cover. Typically, add 3-4 inches (7-10 cm) to the window width (1.5-2 inches or 3-5 cm on each side) to ensure proper coverage and light control.
- Record this measurement.
Step 2: Measure the Height
- Measure the height from the top of where the blind will be mounted (above the window frame) to the desired length. This can be the window sill or further below, depending on preference.
- Record this measurement.
4. Tips for Accurate Measurements:
- Always measure twice to confirm accuracy.
- Write down measurements immediately to avoid forgetting.
- Ensure the measuring tape is straight and level to avoid slanted measurements.
- For inside mount, check for obstructions like window handles or locks that might affect the fit.
By following these instructions, you'll ensure that your blinds fit perfectly and function smoothly, enhancing the look and functionality of your window.
