How to measure
Five minutes with a steel tape saves a remake. Read this before you order — nearly every wrong-size order comes from one of the three mistakes below.
Inside the recess
Measure the width in three places: top, middle and bottom. Use the smallest. Measure the height from the top of the recess to the sill in three places and use the longest. We make the deductions for clearance, so give us the true opening.
On the wall
Decide how much you want covered, then add at least 6 cm each side and 8 cm above the opening. That overlap is what stops light leaking around the edges.
Three mistakes we see every week
Using a cloth tape. It stretches. Use a steel tape.
Measuring the glass instead of the recess. Always measure the opening.
Rounding up. Give us the exact number to the millimetre — we handle the tolerances.
